Question:

If the Today Show has the time to offer condolences to the family of the deceased elder Russert, do they not also have the time to offer quick condolences to families whenever they announce troop deaths?

It would be easy: “Five more troops died Thursday in Afghanistan. Our sincere condolences to the families.”
